It is with heavy hearts we share the sudden passing of Tyler Joseph Frederick O’Rourke, on August 28, 2022, in Quispamsis, NB. Born on July 9, 1982, in Summerside, PEI, Tyler is the son of Alton (Tammy) O’Rourke and Arlene (Malcolm) Gallant. He is the beloved husband of Sara Dawn (Stewart) O’Rourke, and the cherished father to Briella (Brie), Benjamin (Benny) O’Rourke, and Winston, the cat. He is the son-in-law to Donald and Jean Stewart, from Quispamsis, NB. Tyler is survived by his two grandmothers, Stella Gallant, and Theresa O’Rourke, as well as his sister, Jennifer (Chad) O’Rourke-Miller, his brother Jarret (Brittany) O’Rourke, and his sisters-in-law, Melissa (Craig) Perry and Jennifer Stewart. Tyler is the fun, loving uncle to Addisen and Corbin Perry, Declan and Eli O’Rourke, and Seth Miller. He leaves behind a huge number of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Tyler did not know strangers; they were just friends that he did not meet yet. He is pre-deceased by both his grandfathers, Alban Gallant, and Earl O’Rourke, his uncle, Lambert Gallant and his cousins, Valerie Jones, and Shawn Clohossey. Tyler lived his life between PEI and NB. He is a graduate of UPEI and UNB, with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and he was a Dean’s List recipient for many years. Tyler was always destined to be an engineer. He loved to build, operate heavy equipment, and he dreamed of becoming his own boss. In 2013, he started his own company called OREX Construction. When on a job and an issue arose, Tyler would turn to Adam and say, “We’ll make it work”. Growing up he loved operating machines beside his hero, his dad, eating his mother’s meat pie, and his meme’s sugar jam cookies. In his younger years, he loved pestering his older sister, building forts, and going on adventures with his brother. In University, Tyler met the beautiful love of his life Sara. He knew at first sight she was the one. Together they have two amazing, kind, and smart children, Briella, 12, and Ben, 6. With his family in tow, Tyler loved nothing more than to walk the beaches of PEI, be on the river in Kennebecasis, or be on his acreage overlooking the river. He spent his days teasing his wife, Sara, cuddling his best girl, Brie, and go fishing with his buddy, Ben. Besides loving his family, Tyler loved a good party, to have a beer, and bring out his PEI accent, and he loved getting into antics with his best buddies. His lifelong friend, Owen said, “Tyler was the guy who always did his best to make the journey easy, memorable, and fun as could be”. His friend Tim said, “Tyler was quick witted, an ingenious thinker, the best support a person could have, and he knew if Tyler was involved something memorable would happen”. Tyler loved a good cup of coffee and singing his tunes playing the guitar. Tyler will be missed by every life he touched. He was a role model to many. He was intelligent, hard working with a calm demeaner, fun loving and kindhearted. Tyler had all the qualities that made up a good husband, father, son, brother, friend, and boss. We are all going to miss you, “Wayne”! Visitation will be held at Rooney’s Funeral Home, Alberton, PEI, from 6-9 p.m., on Thursday, September 1, 2022, and the funeral be held at St. Simon and St. Jude Parish Church in Tignish, PEI, on Friday, September 2nd at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an education fund for his children, Briella and Ben. www.rooneyfh.ca The funeral will be live-streamed on the St. Simon and St. Jude Facebook page, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
